What ages does 6Lab Academy serve?
Children ages 8–12, typically in grades 3–6.
Is this licensed childcare?
6Lab Academy is an After-School STEM + Academic Studio: a small-group enrichment program, not licensed childcare.
How does school pickup work?
Supervised pickup from Chávez Elementary. Students are met at dismissal and walk as a supervised group to the nearby 6Lab program location.
What is the daily schedule?
Monday through Friday, school dismissal through 6:00 PM. Every day includes Academic Studio time and a hands-on lab; Monday is the flagship extended day with the Food Science Culinary Lab.
When does the fall quarter run?
Founding Fall Quarter: September 14 to November 6, 2026. 6Lab follows the MMSD elementary calendar on school-closed days.
How much does it cost?
Weekly tuition is $200.00/week with a one-time $75.00 registration and materials fee. No payment is collected at the application stage.
What happens on no-school days?
School's Out @ 6Lab offers separate full-day programs on MMSD no-school days, open to all kids 8–12, not just enrolled families. The first planned dates are October 15–16, 2026. See planned dates →
Does applying guarantee a seat?
No. Cohorts are small and applications are reviewed; seats are offered only after acceptance. Applying is free and takes about ten minutes.
