6Lab Academy grew from a simple belief: exposure matters.

I believe children benefit tremendously from being introduced early to STEM, technology, engineering, design, cooking, problem-solving, and other real-world skills. Not because every child needs to grow up to become an engineer, programmer, scientist, designer, or entrepreneur, but because learning how to question, build, experiment, troubleshoot, create, collaborate, and keep trying gives children tools they can carry into almost anything they choose to do.

The more children are exposed to, the more possibilities they can imagine for themselves. A student may discover that they love robotics, coding, engineering, design, cooking, science, entrepreneurship, or something they had never encountered before. Even when an activity does not become a future career, the confidence and skills gained from trying something new still matter.

My own background spans technology, web development, UX and digital design, entrepreneurship, STEM programming, and working with young people. I began working in web development in 2018, and over the years I have continued learning how technology, creativity, problem-solving, and human-centered thinking can come together. That experience shapes the way I think about education.

I do not believe STEM education is valuable only because we need more scientists or engineers. STEM teaches children how to approach problems, ask why, test ideas, recover when something does not work, and try again. Those are powerful skills far beyond a STEM classroom.

6Lab is designed to create more of those opportunities while still giving students strong academic support. Homework support and academic skill-building remain an important part of the program, but childhood should also include exploration. At 6Lab, students can encounter different disciplines, develop practical skills, build confidence, collaborate with other kids, and discover interests they may carry with them for years.

I intentionally want 6Lab to remain a small-group environment because relationships matter too. Families should know who is supervising, teaching, encouraging, and spending time with their child. Students should feel known rather than lost in a crowd.

“My goal isn’t to decide what a child should become. It’s to give them more skills, more exposure, and more possibilities as they figure that out for themselves.”
